Small House by JRKVC (Slovakia)

February 19, 2022

I like how from every other angle (except the glass side) this is just another little shack maybe in the middle of nowhere. The inside is an odd little gem too. More here.

Visual Rhythm - Leyton House by McMahon Architecture (London)

February 18, 2022

This is a great example of the subtle power of rhythm in a project. Notice all the repetition throughout the int./ext. compositions. Voids pull your eyes all around this house as the light/shadows layer on top. More here on this elegant home.

Cake (Kalk AP) ebike

February 17, 2022

I like the direction electric motorcycles are going. These dirt bikes out of Sweden go about 40mph and can run for about 3hrs on a full charge. More here.

I appreciate how this seemingly bold industrial modernist steel & glass box mostly blends in with this hilly urban section of Barcelona. More here.

Zupe House by Ivan Bravo + Bruno Giliberto (Chile)

February 10, 2022

Love the wood/glass boxes on top of the concrete with wood buttressing. Even the mosaic tile throughout the kitchen (especially on the ceiling) is quite bold. More here.

Boat House by Handegård Arkitektur (Norway)

February 9, 2022

Sometimes I like when people take a fairly standard archetype and go overboard - this project looks as if it was constructed by the builder of the adjacent boat. More here.

20 pop-up igloos form the restaurant kamakura village in nagano, japan

February 7, 2022

I love the idea of pop-up restaurants and having them being igloos (during a pandemic) seems perfect. Something to consider for the next winter storm. More here.

Greenhouse House by Richardavis Architekti (Czech Republic)

February 3, 2022

Great idea for a house. Live on first level, grow plants on the second level. Surprising there are not more examples of this around. Love the details on this project and relatively minimal palette. More here.

Wall House by CTA Creative Architecture (Vietnam)

Another great example of how these hand-sized modular units can be used in a non-traditional way to facilitate natural ventilation, bring in sunlight, and let the structure itself breathe. More pictures of this project here.

Fun idea. I’d really like to design or see a whole structure made of these. Next…a way to access the honeycomb (maybe on the inside?). More here.
