Her birthday wish is for friends, friends of friends, family, etc. to something GOOD (big or small) and then let her know what you did - preferably by postcard - 3415 Alcott Denver CO 80211
Villa Korup (Denmark)
I like how everything on this project seems to be in a state of weathering. See more on Jan Henrik Jansen Arkitekter.
Amsterdam
My favorite foreign City. Bikes, boats, coffee shops, bridges and very pedestrian friendly. Also, lots of old buildings retrofit with modern design. Can’t wait to revisit one of these days.
two-fer
Ship stairs and shelving. Simple and fun.
Holy Water Cabin
Located in England and designed by Out of the Valley. The corner that slides opens and onto a wrap around deck makes this otherwise tiny project feel large-ish. The soak tub on the front porch also really cinches the cabin vibe.
Electric pickup by Canoo
The Swiss Army would be proud of this one. Check out more here.
…also, it’s supposed to get 200 miles/charge and has outlets & usb ports everywhere.
The new seedlings have begun
Emily has started yellow peppers, rosemary & lavender. The trick seems to be using a heat pad to fool the seeds into “thinking” the ground is warm enough to “hatch” and then a grow light to help the tiny plants “believe” the sun is out longer.
First Space Hotel 2027 (The Gateway Foundation)
I imagine if this ever becomes a reality, it will be touted as a technical marvel and will have all the makings of a …what could go wrong, sci-fi thriller. More here.
Taiyuan Botanical Garden (CHINA)
Impressive glulam domes, site planning and design by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects. More here.
REDSAND CABINS – SUNRISE & SUNSET by UC Denver’s CO Building Workshop
Impressive student built dwellings. Rusty boxes seem so fitting and blend in surprisingly well in the high desert. More information here.
Plywood & carbon fiber boat
Love the simplicity of this one. More here.
Nojiri-ko Nature Platforms / SUGAWARADAISUKE
This project so interestingly blurs the lines between: up/down, in/out, hi vs low tech. More here.
Shout out to Dan Sjogren for sending my way.
Emily got J&J vaccine
Only took 25mins. and 15 of that was waiting to see if there were any immediate side effects (and luckily, there were none).

Here’s the screenshot captured by Bradford Akerman from the night of the memorial which he generously shared. In the body of the image, Dave & Brynn Manzella were conveying their relationship with Seth (Cindy, Fae & Lowa) before their (beautiful, funny, poignant) family song played.
Brad commented when he studied this picture he felt the care of the community from across the country and pointed out ’those lovin’ eye’s’ as more evidence.
Thank you everyone for helping and/or joining. If you were unable to attend or would like to view it again, here is recorded Zoom link.

Sanborn Camps - Florissant CO
Lots of fantastic memories.
Seth, Cindy, the kids and our family went back this past summer and camped for the weekend. Seth and I got to peel off and hike around and through Big Springs (boys camp). He said that he couldn’t remember many specifics but mostly just the overall good feelings of being there, back in ‘89. I suspect he couldn’t easily recall the events because he was often so presently in the moment.
Sunday Rocks between High Trails and Big Springs
Seth
Here’s the bike Seth built. I believe this experience was a birthday gift from Cindy (his wife).
hanging stairs (alternating tread)
In the early nineties, some friends were building a set of these (not nearly as minimal) in Fayetteville AR - ever since, I’ve wanted to incorporate some into a small cabin or tiny house.
NOTE: You can almost picture a disaster at the bottom…maybe a soft landing? I could imagine a dense shag white strip from the (L) corner all the way to the peninsula (same width as stairs).
Brick
I love that this is what it can do, or…this is what can be done with it.
One sheet of plywood boats
Piper (our 14 yr old) wants some help building one of these - full scale.
