Strap-on Spiral Stairs
Very fun idea, especially for those treehouse enthusiasts. See more images here.
Z Shield Flex
Very counter-intuitive face shield, but makes a lot of sense. Read more here.
Volunteer Garlic
It’s been a big summer for garlic in our yard - first the scapes and then the bulbs.
Swing Girl - Banksy
Love the whitewashed ING and swing ropes tied around the A.
Solarpunk
A friend recently taught me the term Solarpunk. It’s a genre of Speculative Fiction that focuses on a greener and more optimistic future. The “punk” is: that it’s actually going against the grain.
Here’s a rendering…
and here’s a project (in Singapore) which is considered Solarpunk.
Knot with Scott
Here are really (2) knots I use often. This video came from a family zoom request to share something with the group.
Architects, in a boat, getting adventure
Not a bad idea of something to do during a pandemic. Fix up an old life boat and explore the arctic with a dog named Shackleton. Read more here.
Ennio Morricone (Nov. 10, 1928 Rome - July 6, 2020 Rome)
This is mostly from a 2019 post.
Morricone scored music for more than 400 movies and television shows (e.g., Cinema Paradiso, The Mission, Space 1999, The Hateful Eight, and on and on). He spread the sauce on the Spaghetti Western. Listen here to the scoring for Once upon a Time in the West, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly and more.
BIOLACE - reprogramming plants to create textiles
This is mind-expanding and suggests a potentially sustainable means of fabricating textiles and so much more. Read/see more here.
BOSC HOUSE (Spain)
Great natural light, patterns, materials and spaces in this very alive home designed by Joan Poca Arquitecte. Check out more about this project here.
Pallet Space (India) - MOFO Studios
Besides the low-budgetness of this space, the partial green walls and roof(?) are a very nice touch. Check out more of this project here.
THE FIGHT - a documentary about the ACLU
This is the type of documentary I’d like to watch (at this point in time). See trailer here.
Small Dwelling in the Trees
So much to love about this tiny place. See more here.
Tiny Cabins by Cheshire Architects (Australia)

Drive-in Movies
Looking forward to the likely massive come-back of this venue type.
BLACK LIVES MATTER
Love that the DC Mayor (Muriel Bowser) made this powerful statement happen - it appropriately leads directly toward the White House.
Christo (June 13, 1935 - May 31, 2020) Artist
Christo’s projects were about many things - beyond the wrapping or the highlighting of islands, trees, buildings, etc. they were a way of involving many groups of people in the participation of large scale environmental installations. Christo’s wife and artistic partner, Jean-Claude, died in 2009. See many of their realized works here.
Electric Scooter (Ösapress)
I feel like Apple could have designed this 15 years ago and everyone would have gotten one.
CURIOUS PRACTICE (Architecture) New Castle, Australia
Love how well crafted these spaces are and how the materials/structures in this project are playfully exaggerated. See more of this and their other projects here.
